About Erik


Erik R. Silden is founder and CEO of Coaching For Positive Change, a life coaching, mentoring and training company, designed to help others become the “best they can be” in their professional and personal lives. He has helped numerous coaching clients successfully triumph over challenges that previously inhibited them. Prior to founding Coaching For Positive Change, Erik was involved in sales, marketing, management, training and coaching in the real estate industry for 35 years. His career includes numerous accomplishments, from managing sales force development to installing sales processes and orchestrating marketing campaigns.

Erik was a driving force in the establishment of the Charleston Trident Homebuilders Association (CHTBA), Sales and Marketing Council. As president of the Council from 1989-1990, he grew the organization to over 200 members, making it one of the largest in the U.S.A. During his tenure in real estate, Erik won the following Sales and Marketing Council PRISM awards: Sales Manager of Year, 1988; Sales Person of Year, 1991; Sales and Marketing Council Member of Year, 1989 and 1991. Centex Homes awarded him The President’s Award for Outstanding Service and Dedication in 1990 and in 1991. Seven of the New Home Sales Agents Erik personally coached and trained have been awarded the New Home Sales Person of the Year Award for Charleston by the Sales and Marketing Council.

Erik received his BS in Business Administration from Northern Michigan University. He is a graduate of the Institute For Life Coach Training in The Foundational Coach Training Program, 2004. Erik was awarded his Competent Toastmasters Award from Toastmasters International in 2001. In 1997, The Charleston Regional Business Journal featured him in an article on his training for Dobson Builders, a Homebuilding Company.

For the past 7 years he has been a certified Licensed Real Estate Instructor for the S.C. Real Estate Commission. Since 2009 he has been a volunteer for the Charleston Chamber of Commerce’s Young Professional Organization, mentoring and coaching young professionals. Erik has been a member of Seacoast Christian Community Church since 1988 where he founded and coached the “Seacoast Offers Support” Ministry Team from 1989-2009. He has facilitated groups on Divorce Care, Boundaries, Changes that Heal, God Will Make A Way and Search For Significance.

He is now team teaching at the College of Charleston with Dr. Howard Rudd in Leadership and Management Development, MGMT 345. The course investigates a number of factors that determine leadership with special emphasis on vision and mission.
